IITP RAS has many years of expertise in performance evaluation and design of MAC mechanisms and routing protocols for Wi-Fi, WiMAX and WiMedia networks. IITP RAS has been involved in several projects aimed on enhancements of existing MAC in wireless networks, both in national and international projects in collaboration with leading IT companies. IITP RAS has devised several signaling mechanisms for 802.11 mesh and infrastructure WLANs and presented and defended them at meetings of 802.11 WG in the framework of IEEE 802 LAN/MAN Standards Committee. Some of the mechanisms was included into current drafts of 802.11s, 802.11z and 802.11aa amendments. Currently IITP is participating in FP7 FLAVIA project, leading a work package on 802.11 MAC enhancement and focusing on parameterized QoS support in 802.11s mesh networks.
